AT LAST RAILA ODINGA NAMES EURO BOND BENEFICIARIES
CORD leader Raila Odinga has finally released names of individuals he claims are involved in the EuroBond saga.
During his press conference on Thursday at Serena Hotel, the former
Prime Minister named 8 people connected to the alleged loss of over
Sh100 Billion Eurobond fund.
The eight included Treasury Cabinet Secretary Henry Rotich, his Principal Secretary Kamau Thuge, Head of Public Service Joseph Kinyua, former Central Bank of Kenya Governor Njuguna Ndungu, CBK Chairman Jairus Nyaoga, Acting Director, Financial Markets department at CBK John K. Birech, Moses Muthui and Benard Ndungu.
Odinga said the eight were 'persons of interest' in the Eurobond saga.
The opposition leader indicated that: "We expect top Treasury
officials to step aside and an international forensic firm appointed to
investigate the Eurobond transactions."
Odinga rubbished earlier claims by Treasury that the Eurobond funds
had been utilised in projects citing that the proceed never reached
Kenya.
The former Prime Minister has consistently accused the government of
swindling the money, saying that the record books presented by Treasury
did not add up.
Raila has been demanding the National Treasury explains to Kenyans
how the Sh275 Billion EuroBond cash was spent, claiming that over Sh100
Billion could not be accounted for.
However, according to Treasury Sh60 Billion was used to service a
loan that the Ministry had secured from some banks, while Sh196.9
Billion was used for infrastructural projects across various Government
departments.
Last week, investigations by the Ethic and Anti-Corruption Commission
(EACC) concluded that they had found found no evidence of criminal
culpability on the part of any government official and therefore
recommended that the file be closed.
