After making a spectacular landing in Bunyala in the company of Nairobi Senator Mike Sonko on Saturday, philanthropic Kenyan celebrity Jaguar addressed a mammoth meeting of young people and urged them to have faith in the Government.
The music star who was the chief guest during the annual Bunyala talent search extravaganza condemned corrupt leaders as he urged the youth to stay put and remain vocal on governance issues.
“I urge the youth to forgive me as I have done nothing much as a National Agency for the Campaign against Drug Abuse (Nacada) director. The parastatal is full of corruption and selfish people who have no vision for the youth and this has made it hard for me to deliver as an individual. It is a big fight,” he said in his passionate speech.
“We should not give up but rather remain steadfast in supporting issues that relate to the youth. We should unite in the fight against drug abuse and all vices that drag us backwards,” he said amidst animated cheers.
“I urge Government ministries related to the youth to do a proper ground check on issues relating the youth. It is not enough laying strategies and policies. Let them go to the ground and have a first-hand experience on what the youth in Kenya are facing,” he noted. Jaguar challenged officials implicated in the Nacada 99 million scam to step aside until investigations on the matter are completed.
“The law says that any government official mentioned in corruption should step aside till investigations are complete and I am shocked that these officials whose matter is being dealt with by the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission are still in office,” he added.
