MCSK Reveals Top 10 Highest Earning Musicians In Kenya

Musicians are now laughing all the way to banks after the Music Copyright Society of Kenya (MCSK) has revealed the revenues for  artists distributed between April to June 2015.
Through  a press release issued by MCSK,  the three months revenue was delayed. The music society used the latest monitoring system, Vericast.
Vericast is a world music identification. It monitors millions of songs over 3,000 radios and televisions in more than 60,000 countries. A total of KSh 30.3 million was collected.
Maurice Okoth, CEO, MCSK urged stakeholders to support local artist to promote music the industry in Kenya.

“Mcsk would wish to encourage more radio and television stations to support local musicians and broadcast the local musicians works so that we can build our local industry even more

It is disheartening to see that only four of our Kenyan musicians were within the top ten list of radio and television stations in Kenya. Mcsk would however wish to thank all Kenyan radio and television stations for making remittances to MCSK for the broadcast royalties,” Okoth said.

According to the MCSK list, Sauti Sol group emerged top to grab the number one slot form gospel music. Bahati and Willy Paul came second and fourth respectively.
